I've decided to get serious about making an effort to visit all the National Parks in the United States. I have a new (yet to be shown on the blog) Field Notes sized journal cover and thought it'd be great to make a fun insert to fill in over time. This idea came about randomly when I was looking up the campground I'll be visiting later this month and if there was a National Park nearby. I then looked at the list of National Parks and realized I've only been to four of them! The four that I have been to are Cuyahoga Valley, Grand Canyon, Redwood, and Yellowstone Natl. Parks. I briefly drove through part of Death Valley--but I'm not counting that one.
As of right now, only the cover is made. I am still trying to figure out how to make the inside. What I do know is that each park will have it's own page so I can write down notes, things seen, memories, and tape down acquired ephemera. I was thinking of trying to find a cheap alphabet stamp set to stamp the titles in on the top of each page.
The cover is made of a vintage (1999) personal sized Filofax map. I don't use Filofax anymore so I decided to put it to some use. I'm currently obsessed with emoji stickers so I used some to decorate the cover. I then wanted to reinforce the cover a bit because this thing will be in my notebook for years (I have no idea how long it will take me to visit all the National Parks) so I used clear packing tape to "laminate" it.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Is this something you'd like to implement into your TN? Maybe a National Park insert doesn't appeal to you but making your own city books could be a fun way to organize trips.
