The first week of my accelerated nursing program was quite the adjustment. I'm used to working second shift so changing my sleeping schedule to going to bed early and waking up early has been somewhat difficult. For the majority of the week I was battling some type of bug and felt sick every evening. Ibuprofen kept the ick away during the day but I was just tired non-stop. Also, I have bad heartburn and I usually never have to deal with that.
As far as classes, I really enjoy Pathophysiologic Alterations and my Health Assessment (Nursing Foundations) classes. The others: History of American Nursing (my seminar), and Cultural Competence are pretty useless and the work feels as if it's taking away from what I really need to study and concentrate on. My lab for Health Assessment is a little stressful because we have to do check-offs and pass them to move on. So, right now we're working on vital signs on each other. By the end of the semester we will be able to do a full head to toe assessment along with proper charting.
Lectures are long and exams come very quickly. I don't know if I'm studying correctly yet. I guess I'll have to see how I do on the first exams and adjust accordingly.
It's going to be a long year. I hope my mood changes because I'm quite depressed and uncertain about how this year is going to go. Just being real, ya'll.
