This past week was full of orientations, training, power point presentations, CPR training, and shadowing. I am absolutely thrilled to begin working at the Children's hospital. I love how big and modern the building is (there's 10k+ employees!), there's animal artwork everywhere, and the cafeterias are amazing. I also couldn't be more happy with the floor that I'm working on and the opportunity to work with youth crisis patients. Everyone from physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, PSA's, and managers have been friendly and welcoming. I'm very happy about my schedule and the opportunity to earn shift differential pay and extra pay for working some weekends. I even enjoy wearing scrub pants and the approved logo'd shirts. It's comfortable and easy.
I also received the email I've been waiting patiently for since February. I was accepted to my nursing program of choice. While I am very happy for this, I need to work out the logistics of it all. It's going to be a very time intensive program being 13 months long. And, it's a BSN program so that's a lot of information packed into a small amount of time. I know I can do it but I won't lie and say I'm not nervous or worried. I'm about 80% sure that this is not only what I want to do with my life, but what I should do to ensure a financially comfortable life. I feel like after going to art school, I was so depressed that it didn't work out the way I had hoped. I just don't want to make anymore bad decisions.
After this long week, I have a few days off before I go to work on Wednesday and work through Sunday. I don't have anything planned other than to read, finish Twin Peaks season 2, and relax.
