A cold front moved into the midwest this past week and we took advantage of the cool weather to walk around the zoo. As much as I enjoy our zoo, I hate walking around in the summer heat. Knowing it would be barely 60 degrees, we had to go.
I haven't been to the zoo since before they added the African exhibit add-on with the giraffes, cheetahs, ostriches, lions etc. The cheetahs are so pretty and so inquisitive. They were fixated on the little golf carts that the staff ride around in and you could just see their intelligence in their facial expressions. Each cheetah also gets time to run and it's cool to see them gain speed.
My favorites to visit are the gorillas. They're just so fascinating and the babies are so goddamn adorable it pains me. Colo, the oldest gorilla kept in captivity, is still her cheeky self and was laying down on her back just looking at the visitors with her legs crossed and hand on chin. Her eyes have so much wisdom in them. How anyone could hunt and kill Gorillas is beyond me.
Say what you will about zoos but it's apparent that the staff at the Columbus Zoo take care of their animals.
I had to take advantage of the phhhoto app to show some animal movement!
